Human rights are a fundamental part of the society. Some groups work with human rights and protect migrant rights as well as all civil rights. It is important to inform people about different human rights and the best way to become included into society.
One of the problems people have is trying to become a part of the society. Especially when they don’t have access to the right resources that could help them be included. They need help to acquire proper documents and begin their political participation.
For example, The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights in California tries to work with families of immigrants as well as individuals. They help people access the information about the right way of naturalization and becoming a part of society. Their approach works by trying to change the popular opinion about immigrants.
Another organization is ACLU Immigrants’ Rights Project. They also work in protecting civil rights of immigrants, but they work through advocacy, outreach, and litigation. Amazon Watch is a human rights organization based in San Francisco. They help indigenous groups with human rights cases and the rights of indigenous’ people after the big projects such as oil and gas pipeline are launched.
The Advocates for Human Rights are also at the front of the fight. They try to change things on a local and regional level before going national and global. They work as volunteers and try to involve new partners by allowing people access all the resources they need. The organization counts more than three decades of experience helping to turn lives of women, children, and immigrants around for the better.
Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin who are the founding fathers of Phoenix New Times and Village Voice Media were arrested, but the case went into a settlement. The reason for their detention was the fact they had revealed a set of notes of grand jury proceedings that were looking for reporter’s noted on articles covering the Sheriff at the time in Maricopa County.
They donated the money from the settlement to an organization that helps migrants in Arizona.
They were both arrested and taken from their homes. Afterward both journalists suet the County winning 3.75 million dollars in the settlement. They created the Lace and Larkin Frontera Fund to help people fight and exercise their human rights.
Human Rights Organizations Matter It is evident from the work of these organizations that they care about human freedom. Many people would say that in the modern democracy everything is fine on the frontier of human rights, but that is not always the case.
Individuals who don’t have the resources can be labeled as illegal and returned to their native countries. There many might face execution and imprisonment for wanting to leave in the first place.
The Human Rights organizations are working around the clock to help people find jobs, settle down and become a part of society that can exercise all rights and privileges this status offers them.
They have changed lives of countless people over the decades and don’t seem to be ready to stop anytime soon.
